Chairman Tom Appel led discussion about public hearings held Feb. 11 on a proposed Deer Hunting Firearms Ordinance and clarified which entity would manage enforcement if the board adopted an ordinance. Appel told the board a decision need not be made immediately and noted that the board could postpone a vote until May 1, 2026.
The board registered consensus to wait for additional information and to revisit the issue at a future meeting. No motion or vote on an ordinance occurred at the Feb. 17 meeting.
