Trustees approved several community and outreach items at their May 12 meeting. The board granted Harold E. Russell American Legion Post 938 permission to hold a Poppy Day fundraiser on May 23, 2026 and voted to purchase a half-page Summer Fun Guide ad from Shaw Media for $446.00.
Clerk Rhonda Bezely proposed adding a $50 professional cleaning fee to the Community Center rental application to address rising cleaning costs; the board voted to add the fee. President Frank Cattani noted the Mother's Day Bingo event raised around $5,000 and suggested continuing similar events to improve the Community Center fund. Trustees also approved a $50 donation to the Illinois Valley Center for Independent Living; the motion passed 5-1 with Trustee Bernie Victor recorded as the lone nay.
The clerk was directed to post summer-help openings with a May 26, 2026 application deadline and to proceed with advertising and application collection as discussed.
