Trustees and staff address storm cleanup, tree hazards and long-standing gravel complaints

Trustee Dan Nelson and Public Works Superintendent Doug Englehaupt reported on storm cleanup after strong winds that caused trees and limbs to fall. Public Works crews are collecting and chipping debris; Englehaupt said he has personally placed gravel at some addresses flagged by trustees but that residents sometimes add material themselves.
Attorney Pat Barry warned, "it is illegal for anyone to place gravel on Village streets besides the public works department," citing safety and maintenance issues. Nelson also said the village will lock gates at the wood pile if residents continue dumping grass clippings there. Trustees asked Englehaupt to inspect a tree reported at JoAnn Lee’s property and to evaluate a sycamore at 104 N. Peru Ave. for potential removal after a tenant reported damage to a vehicle from a fallen limb.
