Trustee Patrick Flanagan told the board that, "as of right now we have about $15,000 raised for the celebration and to do everything and the fireworks we will need approximately $33,000 total." Organizers plan fireworks at Kennedy Park on Friday, July 17, and Flanagan said they need to notify Anthony Lovegren by June 1 if the village will fund fireworks so he can purchase and design the show.
After discussion about fundraising and borrowed tents from LaMoille Buffalo Days, Trustee Bernie Victor moved and Trustee Jan Martin seconded a motion to donate $5,000 toward Ladd Daze and America's 250th birthday celebration. The motion passed with Ayes: Victor, Martin, Nicholson, Nelson; Abstentions: Flanagan and Thrasher. The Events Committee expects two additional fundraisers that could raise about $5,000 more toward the event.
