Lake Villa staff report pauses on hydro flushing; Palombi School redevelopment proposals, townhome plan continued

Public Works Supervisor Jim Bowles told trustees that hydro flushing is paused because of rain and may resume in May, and said high sanitary flows caused limited sanitary sewer overflow (SSO) events that were reported to the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency. Bowles also reported a pump issue at the Monaville lift station and that parts have been ordered; no basement flooding complaints were recorded in the public minutes.

Superintendent of Streets Ryan Horton reported minor flooding that crews addressed by maintaining outfalls and clearing debris; Horton noted a slight delay to a pier installation due to weather and said crews assisted Antioch Township with sandbagging. In administrative updates, Finance Director Christine McKinley said Accounting Specialist Rosie Dyer was onboarded and audit preparation is underway.

Administrator Mike Strong briefed trustees on local development items: the Shag Bark kennel ownership transition is pending conditional use approval; the "Demon Dog" proposal was withdrawn and the property returned to market; the Plan Commission continued a townhome proposal at Monaville & Cedar Lake Road to June 4 for revisions; two redevelopment proposals for Palombi School were received with presentations scheduled for May 13; and site due diligence on 209 Cedar Ave is underway with redevelopment discussion expected in late May or June.
