Milford authorizes $22,000 for wing plows as roads remain in poor condition

Highway Superintendent Billy Sutphin told the Milford Town Board that he estimates 75% of the town's roads are in poor condition and that the Highway Department is prioritizing paving and patching work this summer.
"Billy estimates that 75% of the Town's roads are in poor condition," Sutphin said, and he requested using roughly $22,000 from the equipment budget to purchase wing plows for the town’s two plow trucks. Sutphin said the wing plows would reduce the number of passes required to clear a road by about 50%, producing labor and fuel savings; he also said all personnel who drive the plows would complete NYMIR plow training.
The Board approved the purchase. On a motion by Council Member Thorsland, seconded by Council Member Velasco, Resolution 7A‑2026 authorizing the expenditure of approximately $22,000 was adopted. Vote: Ayes 3 (Partridge, Thorsland, Velasco); Nays 0; Absent 2 (Couse, Sosnowski).
