Milford board OKs ad to seek land, hears fishing-access proposal and plans for Town Barn repairs
Summary
The Board authorized placing an advertisement seeking land for future town facilities, discussed redirecting an $80,000 grant toward Town Barn repairs after a consultant failed to appear, and heard a proposal for an official fishing and canoe/kayak launch site on the Susquehanna River that could be eligible for DOT and DEC partnerships and grants.

On a motion by Council Member Harold Couse, seconded by Council Member Vera Sosnowski, the board agreed to place a public advertisement seeking land suitable for future town facilities; the vote was unanimous. Supervisor Austin Partridge said the Town is still interested in purchasing land for future facilities.
Council Member Kristen Velasco reported the structural-engineering firm retained to evaluate repair costs for the Town Barn did not attend the meeting. Velasco said the Town had received permission to redirect an $80,000 grant from Assemblyman Miller's office toward Town Barn repairs and reminded the board the salt-shed WQIP grant must be used by 2028. The board also heard from Eamonn Hinchey (County) and Brent Baysinger (Canoe and Kayak Rentals and Sales) about a proposed official fishing access and launch at the junction of Route 166 and County Highway 33; the plan would formalize an informal DOT-owned access point, allow DEC oversight, add the site to maps and itineraries and enable grant opportunities to support development.
