A Milford resident asked the Town Board to close Hotaling Road, a seasonal road used by two landowners, citing repeated illegal garbage dumping.
Jamie Waters told the Board he and one other property owner are the only landowners on the road and offered to pay for gates at both ends and to be responsible for breaking beaver dams as needed. Supervisor Austin Partridge said that to close the road the town attorney must draft a resolution and both landowners must sign off; the road would then be removed from the Town's inventory, reducing maintenance obligations. Highway Superintendent Billy Sutphin said he would put up “Road Closed” signs immediately while the legal steps are drafted for the next meeting.
The Board will review a formal resolution at its next meeting and the town attorney will advise on the legal steps required for removal from the town inventory.
