The Leakey ISD marching band qualified for state for the second consecutive year and was recognized by the board.
Minutes record that the band received 'straight ones (superior ratings) in all categories,' an improvement from the prior year. Band Director Mrs. Constanza expressed gratitude for the Board's support for uniforms and funding. Superintendent Chris Yeschke commended the students' dedication, noting the band practices in August heat, and praised the drum majors for professional responses during competition.
The band announced a Christmas concert on Dec. 9 at the courthouse under the lights; students also introduced themselves and their instruments during the meeting.
