Michael Drawhorn and Marian Sulimowski of Cops and Fire Testing reported that 15 candidates took the January 31, 2026 firefighter test and only 2 passed. The testing firm said it double-checked scores with no changes; the board reviewed the actual test administered.
Commissioners discussed several options to increase pass rates: encouraging candidates to purchase the study guide, providing more time on the written exam, or lowering the passing score. Board members were not in favor of lowering the passing score but supported giving candidates more time to complete the written exam.
