Student leaders Joe Siravin and Ethan Farrell presented the student council report to the Lake Forest CHSD 115 Board on Oct. 14, describing recent homecoming activities and ongoing student-engagement efforts.
"I'm Joe Siravin, and I'm the student body president at Lake Forest High School," Siravin said as he led the report, which included a movie-night pilot and car-decorating event the council said drew "a little under" 100 students. Vice president Ethan Farrell summarized interviews the council conducted with nine students and several faculty, saying freshmen often struggle with choosing classes and understanding course rigor.
The students described several other initiatives: collecting roughly 200 cereal boxes for donation to North Shore Community Partners, resuming a small fundraising 'Grama' sale Oct. 20–23 (a $5 goodie bag with proceeds to the National Foundation for Cancer Research), and new spirit and Halloween activities including a pumpkin scavenger hunt and costume contest. The council also previewed a 'VoxBox' feedback booth meant to gather student input on phone and lanyard policies and meal service, and proposed peer outreach to area middle schools in spring to help incoming students understand course expectations.
Board members thanked the students for the presentation and for bringing forward both the events and student concerns. The board did not take formal action on student council recommendations during the meeting; the presentation was placed in the record and will inform future discussions about transition supports and student engagement.
