Lena approves $536,128.92 in sewer-lining payments and discusses aging pipes

The Village of Lena board on March 9 approved two pay applications to Hoerr Construction totaling $536,128.92 for the sewer-lining project. Pay application #2 for $96,210 was approved on a motion by Trustee Brian Peight, seconded by Trustee Christin Keeffer; pay application #3 for $439,918.92 was approved later in the meeting on the same mover/second and the minutes record that pay app #3 dates back to December and will be submitted to Bridgette Stocks for reimbursement.
Village Engineer Brian Nott said sewer main lining was scheduled to be completed that week and reported manhole assessments showing 15–18 structures needing attention; he estimated about 177 vertical feet of pipe in poor condition that will be lined. Nott also described a buried tie-in under Camp Street — he said it appeared to have been tied in and buried at least 50 years ago — and noted these conditions often are only found once televising or excavation occurs. Attorney Tom Green explained there is a statute that applies when an error causes damage to the village right-of-way but that recovery can depend on warranties and documentation from the company that performed the original work.
The board recorded both pay applications as approved with votes shown in the minutes as "ALL AYE." No dissent or abstentions were recorded in the minutes.
