Highway Superintendent Mike Croft gave a detailed operations report covering maintenance, equipment repairs, shared services and upcoming capital work. He said bearings were replaced on a merry-go-round, breakers and wiring work completed on units C6, C9 and C10, and that a 2019 Ford F-550 requires a wiring harness that Fleetpride is prioritizing.
Croft described roadwork timelines: 120 tons of sand were hauled from Dalrymple Coopers Plains for a sand seal on Cotton Hanlon Road; Magar Road has been graveled and final graded and is ready for chip-seal next week; Cotton Hanlon Road was chip sealed and sand-sealed; Vestal Asphalt is expected to finish remaining chip-seal work on Hayes (upper blacktop section), Drew Road, Magar Road and Hanrahan Road by the end of the month. He also reported shared-service assistance to the Towns of Hector and Catharine and to the county, and said the Fitzpatrick Hill Road bridge was red-flagged for a reduced capacity of 16 tons with signs posted and notifications sent to Schuyler County EMS and Odessa Fire Department. Croft said bids for a salt storage shed are expected to be issued soon after engineering and Soil & Water meetings with Engineer Jessica Skinner.
