Moira officials recorded their intent to apply to New York State Homes and Community Renewal for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding during a public hearing on Aug. 12, 2025. The application would be for the 2025 program year and seeks funds to support scattered-site, single-family, owner-occupied housing rehabilitation or replacement throughout the town.
The record states the NYS Office of Community Renewal administers the CDBG program and that approximately $17 million is expected to be available statewide for the 2025 program year. The town expects to apply for up to $750,000 and said grant proceeds would be used for housing, economic development, public facilities, public infrastructure, and planning activities whose principal purpose is to benefit low- to moderate-income persons. The hearing record also notes the Town will adhere to an Anti-Displacement and Relocation Plan if the application is awarded.
