The Leverett’s Chapel ISD Board voted to amend its District of Innovation plan on Sept. 23, 2025. Superintendent Matt Everett presented five specific changes required to comply with Texas Education Code procedures and to re-implement the district’s formal teacher evaluation system, T‑TESS.
The approved amendments remove previously granted exemptions under Texas Education Code §28.004, §21.203 and §21.352; adopt a local evaluation cycle that requires formal T‑TESS evaluations at least once every three years with probationary teachers evaluated annually; and continue use of a locally developed principal evaluation instrument. Trustee Jimmie Faye Waller moved to approve the DOI amendments; Trustee Manuel Dennis seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
