Leverett's Chapel ISD board adopts pay scales, several state-mandated policies and extends superintendent's contract

The Leverett's Chapel Independent School District Board of Trustees convened July 22 and approved a set of personnel and policy changes intended to implement new state funding and compliance requirements and to adjust local pay scales.
President Robbie Waller called the meeting to order at 5:36 P.M. and noted a quorum. Superintendent Matt Everett presented the recommendations that the board later approved: a new 20-step auxiliary pay scale for support staff, adoption of the state-linked Teacher Retention Allotment (HB2) with a $1,500 local supplement per step, and several policy revisions required by recent state legislation including HB1481, SB401 and SB13. The board also approved a transition to a single-campus designation for accountability reporting and extended Everett's contract by one year to 2026'2027.
The consent agenda (previous minutes; monthly financial report; appointment of an officer to calculate and publish the tax rate; and scheduling of August meetings) was accepted by motion of Jimmie Faye Waller, seconded by Barbara Baker. Multiple substantive items that required formal motions were moved and seconded on the record and each vote was reported as "carried." The meeting adjourned at 6:18 P.M.
The meeting record lists school officials present (Superintendent Matt Everett; Assistant Superintendent Nikki Saxton; Business Administrator Jennifer Gough; Carmen Chavez; and superintendent secretary Bridgette Hughes) and two members of the public, Gary and Dianne Guthrie.
