Levelland LCDC proposes $635,000 in parks projects, council holds public hearing

The Levelland City Council held a public hearing on Nov. 3 on a package of parks projects recommended by the Levelland Community Development Corporation (LCDC). LCDC President Jacob Tucker and Parks Director Dustin Reichelt presented projects funded by the LCDC 1/4-cent sales tax; projected FY26 revenue is $650,000 and estimated LCDC reserves were cited at $1,260,000 as of Sept. 30, 2025.
The LCDC recommended a total of $635,000 in expenditures that would fund playground resurfacing at Brashear Lake ($30,000), fountains at Lobo Lake and Brashear Lake ($30,000), a trail extension and overlook swing at Lobo Lake ($25,000), Phase 2 of the Pickleball Complex (shade structure, benches, trash cans, surface painting — $25,000), picnic tables and shade at the Oxy Sports Complex ($15,000), a new entry sign at Oxy Sports Complex ($15,000), major improvements at City Park Field F including lighting, fencing, irrigation and field materials ($320,000), renovation of the Church League Field (infield expansion and movable pitching mound — $25,000), and work at City Park Barty Johnson field including fence, irrigation, field materials and demolition of a building ($150,000). Project proponents said the package would fit within the LCDC’s projected revenue and reserves. The public hearing opened at 6:09 p.m. and closed at 6:11 p.m.
