Levelland Adopts 2026 Staff Holiday Calendar, Moves Floating Holiday to Jan. 2

The Levelland City Council voted unanimously on Oct. 20 to adopt the city’s 2026 staff holiday schedule. Council approved the proposal to recognize seven federal holidays the city observes, plus Good Friday, the day after Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve, and to allow two floating holidays; one floating holiday will be moved to Friday, Jan. 2, 2026.
The proposal noted the city does not close for President’s Day, Juneteenth, Columbus Day or Veterans Day; the floating holidays are intended to allow employees to observe federal holidays the city does not formally close for or to take personal days. Jaime McCabe moved to approve the proposed schedule and Michael Stueart seconded the motion; it carried unanimously.
"To approve the proposed staff holidays for the 2026 calendar year," the minutes record as the approving motion. The adopted schedule will be administered by city staff for calendar-year 2026.
