Levelland City Council approved a transfer-and-assumption agreement with Covenant Ambulance Service after Covenant Hospital–Levelland informed the city it had reorganized ambulance services into a single regional department. Newman Wheeler, Chief Administration Officer for Covenant Hospital–Levelland, told council the internal reorganization requires transferring existing ambulance contracts to the consolidated department but does not alter operational responsibilities or ownership (which remains with Covenant Health).
On a motion by Jaime McCabe, seconded by Bill Powell, council approved the transfer-and-assumption agreement; the motion carried unanimously. City staff characterized the matter as paperwork to reflect Covenant’s internal reorganization rather than a change in service or control.
