Levelland City Council on Sept. 15 approved Ordinance No. 1099, establishing the city’s 2025/2026 tax rate at $0.55500 per $100 valuation. Council recorded a unanimous vote with Breann Buxkemper, Michael Stueart, Bill Powell, Max Ledesma and Jaime McCabe voting in favor.
Staff explained the tax-rate components as follows: Maintenance and Operations (General Fund) $0.478500 per $100 valuation; Cemetery Fund $0.03 per $100; Interest and Sinking (debt service) $0.046500 per $100. Staff noted one penny of the tax rate yields roughly $76,000 in revenue. The proposed rate was described as effectively a 3.74% increase in the tax rate.
The ordinance follows the public hearings the council held on the proposed budget and tax rate earlier in the meeting. Council took the formal ordinance vote after staff presented the rate breakdown and related financial context.
