Commission approves judge biographical pages and agrees on core data for public site

The Judicial Performance Evaluation Commission approved a set of biographical fields and a photo section to be added to each judge's evaluation page on the commission website.

Commissioner Laszloffy proposed a biographical section that mirrors information often requested in gubernatorial appointment applications and said the aim was to give voters transparent, objective context. After debate about relevance and scope, commissioners approved the motion to add a bio block with a roll‑call vote of 8–3.

A subsequent motion to populate specific items (education, public offices held, years of service, appointment/election history, unsuccessful candidacies, and similar factual items) passed 8–3 after the commission agreed to segregate two items for later consideration: "noteworthy social media posts" and historical findings of contempt/sanctions. Counsel noted the commission may include public comments as relevant factors but must be clear about sourcing and verification.

Commissioner Laszloffy also moved to add aggregate lifetime partisan political donation totals (and party percentage breakdown) to the biographical page; commissioners debated the relevance to performance evaluation and the possibility of perceived partisan framing. The motion passed on roll call 8–3; counsel and staff said the data would be gathered from public campaign finance records (noted sources include followthemoney.org and COPP records) and that judges would have an opportunity to dispute or annotate figures before posting.
