Committee picks incumbent Sherwin for 2025 traffic paint work
Summary
Staff reported four bids for 2025 traffic paint and glass-bead supplies and recommended staying with the incumbent Sherwin Williams (Sherwin Industries low bid only marginally lower). The committee approved the recommendation and will forward it to council.
Staff presented solicitations for traffic paint and glass beads for the 2025 season and said Sherwin Industries submitted the low bid but the price was only about $100 lower than the longtime incumbent Sherwin Williams. Because the materials and delivery are familiar, staff recommended continuing with Sherwin Williams; the committee approved the recommendation and sent it to council.
"So with that price being so close to the low bid, I would recommend we stick with the same product that we are familiar with and have been doing business with them for quite some time now," public works staff said. Committee members asked about past sourcing of beads vs. paint and confirmed last year’s purchases came from Sherwin Williams.
