The Elkton Town Council voted to rezone three town-owned parcels to C-1 Conservation following a joint public hearing with the Elkton Planning Commission. Planning Commission Chair Dan Talbot opened the hearing and the commission unanimously recommended the rezoning for the Riverside Park parcel (approximately 4.08 acres), a 1.92-acre parcel at 158 W. Spotswood Avenue (Downtown Marketplace), and a 1.38-acre parcel at 173 W. Spotswood Avenue (Town Hall). The council accepted the recommendations on a 5-0 vote.
The action preserves town ownership and officially changes zoning designations for each parcel to C-1. No residents spoke in opposition during the hearing. The council’s vote followed the Planning Commission’s 6-0 recommendation to approve each rezoning. The items were presented as town-owned properties and the hearing record contains no requests to remove the parcels from town control.
