Commissioners heard that Stage planned to bring an electric-vehicle bus to town as a demonstration and that the transit provider is considering electric buses for its fleet. One speaker described the procurement interest and said there are grant opportunities for initial purchases and charging infrastructure.
"We do have an EV vehicle coming to stage today, as part of the LTC. And it's the the Stage is looking to purchase electric vehicle buses," Speaker 2 said. Commissioners noted range limitations on steep or long mountain routes and agreed EV buses would be most suitable for shorter, in-city routes where charging and range are manageable. The discussion noted possible grant funding for charging stations and that initial purchases might be supported by grants.
No formal action or funding decision was made at the meeting; commissioners exchanged perspectives and asked staff to continue evaluation as part of transportation planning.
