Levelland extends fire service agreement with Hockley County through 2027

Levelland’s City Council voted unanimously Aug. 25 to extend the city’s Fire Service Agreement with Hockley County to provide fire suppression in the county. The existing contract was set to expire Sept. 30, 2025; the amendment extends the agreement through Sept. 30, 2027.
Councilmember Michael Stueart moved to approve the extension and Councilmember Jaime McCabe seconded; the motion carried unanimously. Staff indicated no other substantive changes to the agreement terms were presented at the meeting.
Why it matters: the extension preserves continuity of fire suppression services provided under the interlocal agreement, maintaining operational arrangements through 2027.
Next steps: staff will finalize the contract amendment and execute documents per council authorization.
