Council hires consultant for stormwater plan required by Department of Ecology

The council on June 17 approved Resolution 2024-25 to accept an agreement with Varela & Associates to develop a stormwater plan for the City of Pateros. The motion was made by Bruce Henne, seconded by Chantel Poole, and carried unanimously.
Ben Varela explained that "the Department of Ecology requires each city to have a plan in place," and said a draft should be ready by spring for council review. The contract engages the consultant to assess stormwater needs, draft the required plan, and prepare documentation to meet regulatory requirements.
Council adopted the resolution without recorded dissent. The minutes do not list contract value; staff will return with a draft plan for Council review in the spring.
