Council hears updates on Public Works site studies, Sherman Street repairs and Page Avenue delays

Council members and staff used the July 21 meeting to review several infrastructure items. City Engineer Sarff told the council that additional repairs will be required on Sherman Street after testing revealed defective pavement; the contractor will need to perform the repairs and traffic control will be required during the work. Council Member Steiner requested the update and staff indicated further scheduling information will be provided as repairs are scheduled.
Council Member Whitlock asked why Page Avenue boulevards have not been filled; Sarff said continual rain has made topsoil placement difficult because wet topsoil becomes goopy. Mayor Carlson and City Administrator McCann noted the City applied for and was awarded a grant to study the current Public Works site and more information will be available as those studies proceed. Earlier public comment from Tom Hagen opposed relocating the Public Works facility to the upper north site and urged remodeling at the existing site; the council directed staff to follow up and provide additional information.
