Residents oppose RV dump station; county attorney says Planning and Zoning has authority

At the May 26 meeting of the Daggett County Commission, residents expressed opposition to a proposed RV dump station and asked how the county would ensure town accountability for conditions attached to the project.
Resident Mike Musselman "expressed his strong opposition to the proposed RV Dump station," and community member Bill West raised safety concerns. County Attorney Kent Snider told the commission that formal decisions on the matter fall under the sole jurisdiction of the county’s Planning and Zoning body, and therefore do not require a commission vote. Commissioner Matt Tippets noted that compliance measures had been completed and that the project will return to UDOT for a mandatory final review.
The commission tabled action on a letter of recommendation and directed Attorney Snider to consult with Chad Reed and to work with Carrie Poulsen to revise three letters of recommendation on the agenda. Jeremy Larsen of SunRise Engineering spoke to progress on the project and confirmed that the engineering work had been carried out.
The exchange was recorded during the public comment and subsequent agenda items; no formal vote was taken on the RV dump conditional-use matter and Planning and Zoning is now the lead body for the decision.
