The Mount Vernon City Council adopted an add-on referral to amend the city's refuse fee (TMP-1909) at its Jan. 28 meeting. The motion was moved by Councilwoman Cathlin Gleason and seconded by Councilmember Cynthia Turnquest-Jones.
Councilmember Andre Wallace abstained from the vote and explained, "I did not see the old legislation or review the new one," citing lack of review as his reason. The minutes record the motion as adopted with the abstention noted. The council did not record further discussion or amendments to the proposal in the meeting minutes.
