ARB asks for revised plans, native landscaping for 90 Overhill Road project

At its Jan. 28 meeting the Architectural Review Board reviewed as‑built exterior changes at 90 Overhill Road and asked the applicant to return with a more comprehensive design showing restored architectural detail and native landscaping.
Joseph Sultana, the design professional representing owner Peter Nguyen, said this was his first appearance at the board and that he wanted to "explain where the project is at now, and how it got to this point, and what can be done to move the project forward." Sultana described scope changes including replacement windows, moved garage, extended eaves and new bluestone walkways.
Commissioner Buzz Riley said several defining features of this house type had been stripped during earlier work and recommended adding more timber elements and texture to the front elevation. The board also objected to the use of boxwood shown on the plans and asked that the planting scheme be revised to include only native species. The ARB recommended the applicant return with a revised, comprehensive plan at the board's Feb. 25 meeting.
The board characterized the action as SEQRA Type II (construction on an approved lot) and did not take a final vote at the Jan. 28 hearing; the directive was for the applicant to provide revised drawings and a planting plan addressing the board's guidance.
