Kim Van Antwerp, Director of Instruction, and four high‑school ELA teachers — Amber Ashley, Sara Bouwkamp, Elyse Greenwood and Doreen Barnes — presented the district’s proposed pre‑AP English and Honors AP English curriculum to the Curriculum Committee on Feb. 5. The presentation described the program as aligned both vertically and horizontally and as preparing students to take other advanced placement courses.
The presenters told the committee the curriculum aims to create transformative learning experiences and strengthen pathways to AP coursework. Assistant Superintendent for Instruction Scott Haid also provided related updates, including a request that the committee recommend relinquishing Title III immigrant funds and brief updates on the TRAILS guide and recent sciences of reading professional learning held Jan. 20.
