The Lincoln Parish Police Jury adopted Resolution 25-33 authorizing the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections, Office of Motor Vehicles, to immediately begin collecting the maximum authorized service fee of $4.50 on behalf of the Parish. The resolution notes that implementation of a six-year driver's license reduced customer visits and associated service-fee revenue, and that the cooperative endeavor agreement uses service fees to offset costs for housing the local Motor Vehicle Office.
Dan Lord offered the motion and Milton Melton seconded; the Jury approved the resolution by recorded vote. The minutes record that the change is authorized under an amendment to Act 765 (2014) that allows an increase up to $4.50 to offset decreased local revenue.
