Council approves early 3% raises for eligible union employees, estimated cost $100,000

The Bloomfield City Council approved a resolution to provide eligible union employees a 3% increase one year early, a step staff said would cost roughly $100,000 but is funded within current budget lines.
S3 (Chair) presented the resolution and said the raise would be applied to staff in union-eligible positions: "It's gonna cost around a $100,000 to give everybody that is in a current union eligible position," she said. S3 said she had discussed the proposal with staff and the union representative and that the union was supportive of the early increase.
Council members expressed support and asked that the administration document budget impacts clearly. S3 said the city would return follow-up documentation and that the union would need to recertify on its schedule; council approved the resolution by motion and recorded votes.
