Lou Paris, Volusia County's director of economic development, told the board he was impressed that Edgewater had developed a SEDS and said the county has mirrored parts of the city's approach. Paris offered to share the county's strategy documents and noted that regional planning efforts emphasize industry diversification to improve economic resilience.
Paris also announced that Volusia County will take over management of the business incubator near the airport to broaden the range of businesses served; the county will relaunch the facility as the Volusia Business Innovation Hub and the transition is planned for June 15. He previewed a quarterly breakfast focused on aviation and aerospace that will include presentations from county aviation staff and private firms coming to the region. "So, I think based on what I've seen, you're absolutely on the right track," Paris told the board.
