The Edgewater Economic Development Board voted to recommend that the City Council approve an annual review of the Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (SEDS) by pertinent boards, the mayor and the city manager, and to create a brief signed acknowledgement that board members will sign to confirm they have read and support the SEDS. The motion was seconded and carried in a recorded voice vote.
Board members framed the action as an attempt to make the SEDS a living document rather than a reference that is ignored. "This is a living is," one board member said while describing the SEDS, and members suggested staff prepare a simplified pamphlet or "sell sheet" and add SEDS references to staff reports so council and boards can more readily determine whether proposed projects align with the strategy. The board also asked staff to schedule additional review time and to circulate an updated draft ahead of the next meeting.
