Dr. Anisha Hannah, president of the Pontiac City School District Board of Education, convened a special meeting on March 9, 2026, at the WHRC Little Theater and the board voted to enter closed session at 5:03 p.m. to consider a written opinion of counsel under the Open Meetings Act, Section 8(h). The motion to enter closed session was moved by G. Kevin Gross (trustee) and supported by Marcus Terry (treasurer); the motion carried with five ayes: Sha'Quana Davis-Smith (secretary), Jennifer Dooley (trustee), G. Kevin Gross, Dr. Anisha Hannah and Marcus Terry. Trustees Tanisha Miller had not yet arrived (arrived at 5:09 p.m.) and Kenyada Bowman was recorded absent.
The board remained in closed session until 6:00 p.m., when Marcus Terry moved and Sha'Quana Davis-Smith supported a motion to end the closed session; that motion carried with five ayes (Hannah, Miller, Terry, Davis-Smith and Dooley). The meeting was adjourned at 6:00 p.m. on a motion by Terry supported by Davis-Smith. The minutes were later certified by Dhu Queena Duri Amies and Secretary Sha'Quana Davis-Smith.
