The Whittier City Council opened public hearings on the FY 2026-27 Annual Action Plan and on land-use items related to the CAPO Public House and then continued each to later dates.
The Annual Action Plan public hearing was opened and continued to the June 9, 2026 City Council meeting at 6:00 p.m.; staff invited members of the public to provide testimony at that time so comments could be incorporated into the official record and submitted to HUD if necessary.
The Council opened de novo hearings on a proposed Type 48 ABC license and Conditional Use Permit No. CUP25-0010 for CAPO Public House (7008 Walnut Grove Drive, A.I.N. 8170-040-093) and on Certificate of Appropriateness No. HRC26-0004 for exterior stairs and tenant improvements to the Superintendent’s Residence (Building 7). Both hearings were continued to the July 14, 2026 City Council meeting at 6:00 p.m. Staff noted the CUP project was categorically exempt from CEQA under Section 15301 (Existing Facilities) and the HRC item was categorically exempt under CEQA Section 15331 (Historic Resource Restoration/Rehabilitation).
The continuances allow staff additional time for review and for the public to provide input at the rescheduled hearings.
