Committee reviews Pre-AP English and five supplemental digital resources for adoption

Director Kim Van Antwerp walked the Curriculum Committee through the Instruction Department's textbook and supplemental resource review process on March 12. The committee reviewed a recommendation for Pre-AP English 1 and Pre-AP English 2 (College Board, 2025) for grades 9 and 10 and a set of supplemental materials identified for pilot and adoption: Albert (Grades 9-12), QuickReads (Elfrieda H. Hiebert, Ph.D., Savvas, 2012) for K-12, Quill (College Board, 2025) for grades 9 and 10, and Vocabulary.com (IXL) for grades 9 and 10.
Director Van Antwerp described the review and pilot process and highlighted features that review committees favored for each resource. Member Shawn Colley asked whether adopting some of the new resources would eliminate the need for current materials; Van Antwerp confirmed that some proposed adoptions would replace existing resources. Links to the digital resources were provided to committee members for further review.
