Summary
The Utah State Tax Commission unanimously granted Carbon County Board of Equalization an extension under Utah Code Ann. §59-2-1004 to make determinations on 2025 appeals, moving the deadline to Dec. 31, 2025 because the county cited a high volume of filings.

The Utah State Tax Commission voted unanimously on Dec. 11, 2025 to grant the Carbon County Board of Equalization an extension to decide certain property tax appeals to Dec. 31, 2025. Commissioner John T. Deeds introduced the county's written request, saying the board could not complete decisions within the 60-day period set by Utah law due to a large number of 2025 appeals.
The request cited Utah Code Ann. §59-2-1004(7)(c) and the application deadline in §59-2-1004(3)(a). Commissioner Deeds moved to approve the extension; Chair John L. Valentine took a roll-call vote and the motion passed unanimously. The Commission recorded the new decision deadline as December 31, 2025. The action leaves the county board additional time to process appeals filed by the statutorily specified application deadline and does not itself resolve any individual appeals.
