Board accepts United Companies bid for 2025 county paving work

The Grand County Board of County Commissioners voted May 13 to accept a bid from United Companies for the county’s 2025 asphalt projects.
David Buckley, Road and Bridge supervisor, told the board United was the only bidder and priced the contract at about $2,000,503.40 for roughly 3.7 miles of work on several county roads. Buckley said the bid is below the department’s $2.7 million budget and that negotiations with the contractor could yield additional savings, for example by having the contractor transport gravel rather than the county.
The board moved to accept the bid and directed staff to negotiate final contract terms and then return with a formal contract for signature. “Once this is awarded, we can get that negotiation started and figure out what more dollars we have available,” Buckley said.
