Staff to circulate advanced sign drafts; park entrance signs set for spring install

Staff presented an update on the long-running park entrance signage project, describing multiple internal iterations and simplifying design and copy to reduce installation and maintenance costs. Staff said the signage will retain a navy shield color palette, use cedar framing (not pressure-treated lumber) and move to a single-post mount to simplify installation and reduce snag hazards.
"These are the park entrance signs, by the way, and the trail signs," Staff member said while outlining that staff will email a digital draft this week. Staff indicated installations could start in March or early April once remaining parts arrive.
Commissioners discussed which legacy signs (for example, mounted lion sculptures at Lions Park) should be preserved or relocated and asked staff to provide a map showing proposed installation locations and options for each site. Staff agreed to provide option sets (option 1 or option 2) for review and to solicit commission input before proceeding with installations.
No vote was taken; staff will circulate designs and a proposed installation plan to the commission for comment.
