George Mora, a citizen advocate and one of the champions of the Derry Resiliency Project, presented materials to the Planning Commission describing the initiative as focused on flood resiliency and listing the commission as a partner. Mora described needs including identifying engineers for raising buildings and finding commercial land outside the floodplain and river corridor.
Discussion focused on whether to pursue Municipal Planning Grant funding to support planning work. A member of the public argued such studies were unnecessary, saying, "Does not need to be done." Commissioner Chad Stoddard said there was "an elephant in the room," naming the Williams Dam as a major unresolved issue. The commission did not make a final decision and noted that the Selectboard will make the ultimate determination; commissioners asked for more concrete project details before advancing a grant application.
