Town approves exemption for JMT to evaluate Blackledge Circle drainage

Rich Schreiber, the town’s maintenance and zoning official, reported that Blackledge Circle continues to experience drainage problems and presented a request for engineering services from Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson, Inc. (JMT) to conduct a drainage review of the area. Schreiber said the Gloucester Drive project had performed well after recent heavy rain but that Blackledge Circle still needs evaluation.
Commissioner Dan Murphy moved to approve a Mini Brooks exemption for JMT to perform the drainage evaluation; Commissioner M. Shane Turney seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The exemption enables the engineering firm to proceed with a drainage review that will inform whether the town should accept streets from the developer and what remediation work will be needed.
Resident Amy Keane of 502 Blackledge Circle spoke to the continuing drainage problems; Mayor Tyson said the issue is being looked into and should be resolved soon.
