Town Attorney Ross Hardeman handed each board member a copy of an updated ordinance to amend the Town Code to adopt town-owned sidewalk regulations and outlined the proposed changes. After discussion that singled out the safe, reasonable use of battery-powered scooters the board elected to postpone action so members could review the amendments in greater detail.
The Board did not vote on the ordinance at the Jan. 8 meeting and instructed staff to place the item on the February agenda for additional consideration. "After much discussion about battery-powered scooters used in a safe and reasonable manner the Board suggested to table this until they could review and discuss further the changes considered in this amended ordinance," Hardeman said. The delay gives commissioners time to consider operational and enforcement language before any formal adoption.
