The Lockney City Council on March 18 certified Donnie McLaughlin, Edward Marks and Rosio Reyes as unopposed candidates for the May 3, 2025 general election and adopted a resolution to cancel that election under Subchapter C, Section 2.053 of the Texas Election Code.
Councilwoman Rosio Reyes moved to certify the unopposed candidates and Councilman Dart Carthel seconded; the minutes record the certification and subsequent resolution adoption as passing on recorded 4-0 votes. Donnie McLaughlin moved to adopt the cancellation resolution and Dart Carthel seconded. The council cited the statutory provision allowing cancellation when candidates are unopposed. No public comment was recorded on the matter.
