Several Lusby residents used the public-comment period to raise concerns about recent development decisions. Sean McGuire, speaking for Save Lusby (a local nonprofit), said residents oppose the previously approved Lusby Villas project and that Save Lusby’s appeal is proceeding after a court denied a petition to dismiss the appeal. McGuire described the project as a large apartment development and urged public awareness and action.
"For those who are not familiar with the Lusby Villas project, this proposed development of a 200 plus unit through 30 plus acre apartment complex right in the middle of Busby," McGuire said. Other commenters echoed concern about duplication of retail: Sarah Means told the commission that adding an AutoZone "doesn't make a whole lot of sense when there's an advanced auto parts right across the street," and Megan Farringer urged commissioners to consider alternative uses for pad sites such as a gym or library rather than another duplicate auto-parts store. Commissioners acknowledged the comments; the meeting record shows no reversal of the earlier AutoZone approval at this session but residents indicated legal appeal activity regarding the Lusby Villas approval.
