Dr. Taweepon Farrar of Orleans Niagara BOCES presented a multi-phase search approach to the Barker Central School District Board on July 22, emphasizing leadership fit, strategic priorities and strict confidentiality during recruitment. "The decision should exemplify the values, expertise, and community vision for the District," she said, framing the search as a strategic, long-term choice for district trajectory.
Farrar described the consultant27s role: to direct each phase of recruitment, identify and recruit candidates, coordinate stakeholder meetings, vet applicants with comprehensive reference checks, provide interview logistics and maintain nondisclosure agreements to protect applicants and the district. She recommended stakeholder feedback be collected from community, staff and students without board members present to encourage candid input.
The board discussed closed, hybrid and open search models and agreed a hybrid search would best balance confidentiality with community input.
