The Fairfax Town Council on Aug. 5 presented a proclamation honoring Linda Neal for more than 40 years of service to the town’s planning department and declared Aug. 5, 2026, "Linda Neal Day" in Fairfax.
Mayor Stephanie Hellman read the proclamation noting Neal’s planning career beginning on 07/07/1986 and praising her institutional knowledge, dedication, and community-facing work. Dozens of colleagues, residents and members of local organizations spoke during the proclamation segment and open time praising Neal’s memory of town history, willingness to help residents and role in shaping local projects.
Residents and council members recounted personal memories and examples: the chamber leader praised Neal’s help to local businesses; longtime residents and a local architect recounted Neal’s work guiding applicants and resolving code issues. Neal spoke briefly about growing up visiting Fairfax and thanked the community.
The meeting paused afterward for a brief reception. The ceremony preceded the council’s regular agenda and was moved earlier on the agenda by council action.
