Resident urges removal of 16 Bradford Pears near Trent Woods Town Hall

Lisa Wimpfheimer, a member of the 2026 Earth Week committee, told the board April 9 she would like them to "consider the removal of the 16 Bradford Pear Trees in the median along Country Club Drive beside Trent Woods Town Hall and replacing the trees with a more suitable and easier-to-maintain tree." Town Clerk Holly Willis said a quote from Maple Springs for removal had been received and noted the committee’s suggestion to schedule work during cooler months.
The board thanked Wimpfheimer and indicated the proposal would be considered as part of the FY 2026–2027 budget process; no appropriation was approved that evening. The town’s maintenance staff will be involved in any future planning and timing of removal and replanting.
