Residents promote Las Posadas, ask city to restore holiday lighting at Agriculture Museum

During public comment, Vanessa Acosta of De Colores promoted this year’s Las Posadas, noted flyers and coverage in the Santa Paula Times, and asked the city to help restore decorative lighting at the Agriculture Museum and clock tower for the procession route.
Acosta described the event as a social-justice–oriented Posada that draws parallels between the Christmas tradition and advocacy for migrants and marginalized people. She asked whether anyone at the city could assist with restoring lights that previously lit the trees along the tracks near the museum. Council thanked her and noted Parks and Recreation’s role in community events.
Other residents also offered congratulations to newly elected leaders later in the meeting.
